The production process of artificial leather
The leather goods you are currently using
Very likely
It's made from this viscous liquid in the video
The formula for artificial leather
First, a petroleum plasticizer is poured into a mixing bucket
Add a UV stabilizer
To protect against the sun
And then add flame retardants to do some fire protection for the leather
Finally, the core component of artificial leather is added to the ethylene-based powder
Until the mixture reaches a batter like consistency
Next the worker pours the different dye into another bucket
The color of artificial leather depends on the color of these dyes
After that, the previous vinyl mixture was added
Infuse it into the stain
The mixer needs to keep stirring to keep the mixture flowing
At the same time a roll of leather-like paper is slowly entering the dye
At this point, the colored vinyl liquid has reached the plastic mouth of the dyeing machine
The mixer will continuously stir the liquid so that the drum below can apply the liquid to the paper
Then these vinyl-coated papers would go through the oven, and when they came out, both the paper and the vinyl would mutate
The first layer of vinyl is a thin layer used to build the surface texture
Now workers begin to mix a second layer of vinyl solution for leather
This batch of vinyl will contain a thickener
The thickener gives the leather a dermal elasticity along with a black stain for this layer
After mixing is complete, the worker only needs to pour the mixture into the feed hole of the dye, and the dye will apply it to the top of the first layer
Now the double layer of vinyl will pass through the heat in the other oven which will activate the thickener causing the second layer to expand
The underlying paper can now be stripped out by a machine
Because now the vinyl has hardened
I don't need paper anymore
Factories sometimes respond to customer requirements
Print designs and patterns on the leather
Make it look more colorful
Workers then mix a special solution to enhance the material's durability
After mixing
This thyristor will apply it to synthetic leather
At this point their production is almost over
But the leather is not ready for production, they still need to go through a series of tests
The machine rubs the leather three million times to see how it wears out
And then there's a stretch test
Attach the weight to a strip of synthetic leather
The weight will double the length of the cloth
If there are no tears, that means the cloth has a lot of elasticity
The last thing to do is a fire test
If the leather is naturally extinguished within 2 seconds after lighting
This proves that the flame retardants put in before did their job
After passing the above series of tests, the leather can be entered into the market to make various leather products
